| Second Hand Bookshop |
|
Trading Hours: Monday to Friday from 9am - 12md & 12:30pm to 4pm
The Secondhand Bookshop is available to provide all students with the opportunity to buy and sell textbooks and reference material at reasonable prices. In order to provide students with relevant and affordable textbooks, the Secondhand Bookshop relies on students and university staff placing their books for sale while they are still current (i.e. required or recommended reading for a UNE course). In this way, the Secondhand Bookshop provides students with the opportunity to purchase required textbooks at a price significantly lower than new book prices; or to sell current texts for a reasonable return.
The Secondhand Bookshop also has a general reading and fiction section; and welcomes any popular novels for sale in this category if they are less than 10 years old and in good condition.
Purchasing Textbooks
Before you buy your books band new, check if the Secondhand Bookshop has it in stock. You will save at least 30% of what you would pay for a new book. Once you have established what textbooks you need then it is time to search our online database. Please search the online catalogue before making an order or coming to the store – our bookshop staff are unable to search the catalogue for you.
If you are unsure of the textbooks you need, visit the UNE On Line Textbook List at
http://www.une.edu.au/courses/2008/units/atoz
Please remember that the textbooks and recommended reading for a unit can change at any time. As the Secondhand Bookshop has a “no return” policy, it is your responsibility to make sure the books you are purchasing are still on the required reading list. The Secondhand Bookshop can hold books for you for 24 to 48 hours if you need to find out if they are the right textbooks for your unit by looking at the textbook list, or by contacting the course coordinator.
Next, search the Secondhand Bookshop online database for the text books you need at

Textbooks can be purchased in person at the Secondhand Bookshop, or by email to
bookshop@services.une.edu.au
Selling Textbooks
Please help the Secondhand Bookshop by checking if the books you want to sell are current before bringing them or sending them into the store. Staff at the second hand book shop are unable to check the saleability of your books over the phone. Students can find out whether or not their books are current by checking the UNE On Line Textbook List at
http://www.une.edu.au/courses/2008/units/atoz
Having established that your text books are current, the next step is to read the policy and procedures that relate to the Sale or Purchase of books at
bookshop agreement
E-mail a list of the texts you have to sell to the bookshop. That way you can know which ones we dont have a lot of.
Books can be lodged for sale at the Second Hand Bookshop either in person or by mail. All lodgements must be accompanied by an Owner Contract – a copy of which is available at
http://servicesune.com.au/support/contract bookshop.doc
Once you have an Owner Contract for the sale of your books, it is possible you, the owner, to monitor that sale at
