| As a result of advice from an independent report the UNE Union Board
has approached the University in appointing an administrator to assist
in dealing with a number of issues identified in the report.
The report was commissioned by the University in consultation with
the UNE Union in relation to the current operations of the UNE Union.
The administrator is Mr Stephen Hall of Forsyths, Chartered Accountants
of Tamworth.
This step is a safeguard to ensure the ongoing smooth operations
of the UNE Union. Under the Administrator, Union services will operate
on the basis of 'business as usual'.
The action of the UNE Union Board in approaching the University
to appoint an administrator is a prudent one and both the Union
and UNE are committed to the ongoing provision of essential services
to students and UNE staff.
